All cinema halls in Iran have scheduled to honor the birth anniversary of late-great filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami on June 22.
A short film will be screened in memory of the filmmaker before each screening at the theaters, the Directors Guild of Iran announced on Sunday.
Mehdi Shadizadeh’s ‘Along with Wind’, a documentary about the life and career of Kiarostami, will also go on screen on his birth anniversary at cinema halls of the Art and Experience Group.
The documentary is comprised of interviews with several artists and literary figures, including Javad Mojabi, Leili Golestan and Kianoush Ayyari.
Kiarostami has won many awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for ‘Taste of Cherry’.
He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.
The veteran Iranian filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at more than 300 film events around the world.
